Asia-Pacific CEOs optimistic of global economic growth in 2022
MORE THAN half of chief executive officers (CEOs) in the Asia-Pacific region are optimistic that the global economy will improve in 2022 amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a survey by PwC.
Roderick M. Danao, PwC Philippines chairman and senior partner, said during a virtual briefing on Wednesday that 76% of CEOs in the region showed increasing levels of optimism in 2022 based on PwC’s Annual Global CEO Survey – Asia-Pacific.

Fintech giants partner for payment solution
Financial technology (fintech) giants—Xendit and GCash— partnered to provide a simpler payment solution to Filipino consumers.
Xendit is a unicorn start-up planning to accelerate digitalization of businesses in the region while GCash is one of the country’s largest e-wallets with over 51 million registered users.

Ninja Van targets 100% service coverage in PHL this year
TECHNOLOGY-enabled express logistics company Ninja Van is aiming to reach 100% service coverage in the Philippines this year, a company official said.
“We are expanding our footprint. We are on the road to 100% coverage nationwide, really serving more rural locations like Tawi-Tawi, Siargao, and Siquijor. We are trying to provide access in those areas,” Ninja Van Philippines Chief Commercial Officer Sabina Lopez-Vergara told BusinessWorld in a virtual interview on Tuesday.

PLDT, Microsoft team up to fight cybercrime in PHL
Telecommunications titan PLDT Inc. and tech giant Microsoft have forged a partnership deal for threat intelligence sharing to combat cybercrime in the Philippines.
Under the partnership, the two companies will work together through Microsoft’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Program (CTIP) to “strengthen the country’s digital borders and infrastructure security against cyber threats.”

NEDA: Philippines needs strong competition policy
The implementation of a strong competition policy will help the Philippines move up the economic ladder and attain its goal of becoming a high-income country, according to National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) chief Karl Kendrick Chua.
“By fostering a business-friendly environment and a level playing field that welcomes all players, we can promote more innovation, create more and better jobs, and accelerate our growth,” Chua said.
