Let\u2019s say you go to your local Ministop (<em>este<\/em>, Uncle John\u2019s \u2013 one example of branding!) <strong><em>to buy bottled water<\/em><\/strong>. You probably already have a brand in mind that you want to pick.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But why are you thinking about which brand to get when they\u2019re all the same bottled waters that are safe to drink?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer: <strong><em>branding<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These bottled water brands created a message or idea that sets them apart from their competitors, targeting a certain type of customer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A broke college student might choose the cheapest water brand<\/li><li>The pa-<em>sosyal <\/em>may reach for the \u201cpremium\u201d brand (even if the price difference is just a few pesos)<\/li><li>A new mommy or daddy buying for baby\u2019s formula might choose the brand that emphasizes its quality tests (even though all bottled water undergoes safety testing).<\/li><li>For the zumba <em>titas <\/em>and gym bros, they\u2019ll probably pick the brand that associates its water with professional athletes (even though there\u2019s nothing in the water to boost their performance that other brands can\u2019t)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>It\u2019s all just water. <\/em><\/strong>And yet, we all have our own preferred brand \u2013 and it\u2019s all thanks to their branding strategies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same idea applies to your business. Here are some types of branding strategies and some popular brands that have managed to use the strategy effectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brand Purpose<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Aggressive \u201cBUY ME NOW\u201d strategy doesn\u2019t work as well as before. Many people are looking for the \u201c<strong>why<\/strong>\u201d of a brand.<strong> <\/strong><em>Why should I care about this brand? Why should I support them?&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you can answer that with a meaningful reason that audiences can relate to, you will catch their attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dove <\/strong>has used this strategy many times in campaigns that promote natural beauty, self-love and body acceptance. Their campaign, <strong>#StopTheNameCalling<\/strong> is a good example. The message here is that Dove is encouraging girls to love their bodies and become comfortable in their own skin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This campaign doesn\u2019t sell a product, but it associates the brand with women&#8217;s empowerment and feeling beautiful with their natural features.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brand Story<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Brand stories create emotional reactions that consumers can associate with your brand. It\u2019s not about selling your brand, but selling a perception you can create to influence how people see your brand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>McDonald\u2019s<\/strong> has been using brand stories for decades. And it shows that all these take place in a McDonald\u2019s, which shows that McDonald\u2019s is always there for special moments in life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brand Tagline<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your brand tagline is a short and memorable sentence or phrase that gets your message across. Internally, your brand has its positioning, which is the essence or the purpose of your brand. But to get it across in a memorable way, you need that tagline that reflects the core of your business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good example of this is <strong>RiteMED\u2019s<\/strong> campaigns with taglines like <em>\u201c\u2018Wag mahihiyang magtanong\u201d<\/em> and <em>\u201cMay RiteMED ba nito?\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"May RiteMED ba nito with Susan Roces\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WlKk0HNm-aM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption><em>RiteMed uses a memorable tagline to communicate its business core.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The tagline addresses an issue many Filipinos face: branded medicines are expensive, but patients might be shy to ask doctors and pharmacists for cheaper generic options.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their tagline essentially tells consumers what the brand\u2019s positioning is without having to say it, which is that they offer affordable medicine that is just as effective as other medicine brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brand Voice<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Your brand voice is essentially how you want to sound to others. <em>If your brand was a person, how would they sound to your customers? <\/em>When you create your brand voice, you\u2019re shaping the way customers see and relate to your brand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If we\u2019re talking about brand voice, we have to talk about <strong><em>Angkas<\/em><\/strong>. Its voice sets itself apart because of how relatable it is to the audience they cater to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People who use Angkas\u2019 services consist of students, young professionals and everyday employees \u2013 people on the go who don\u2019t have the budget for premium transportation services.
