It can be a thankless job at times, with some customers even lashing out at them when they encounter delivery problems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Ninja-Rider-Jerome-Colasito.jpg\" alt=\"Ninja Rider Jerome Colasito\" class=\"wp-image-5276\" style=\"width:600px;height:450px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Ninja Van rider, Jerome Colasito, from our Baguio City hub is always ready to deliver, <\/em><br><em>wherever his bike takes him.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>But there are still many aspects to the job that can bring a sense of fulfillment, and it\u2019s something that <strong>Jerome Colasito, <\/strong>a Ninja Rider from Baguio City, is thankful for after being with Ninja Van for three years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s nice, and it can be fulfilling, especially when I get to deliver a lot more parcels than I thought I could only handle within a day,\u201d Jerome said. \u201cYou can also see the relief on the customers\u2019 faces when their packages arrive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Customers are always first<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Hustle Story: Ninja Rider Jerome Colasito\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OjQCDb4Ww6k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jerome makes deliveries around Baguio City and is sometimes tasked to deliver outside the city whenever nearby hubs fall short on riders. He also shared that the record number of deliveries he made within a day is 126 and that the farthest his work brought him is Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being a Ninja Rider in one of the most mountainous areas in the Philippines, he often encounters connection issues where it can be difficult to contact customers. Jerome also rides through some areas that can be hard for motorcycles to pass such as hills, rocky or muddy paths, streams and narrow bridges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cIf a parcel is not delivered on time, the customer will worry, especially when it\u2019s really important to them. So I always inform them when delivery might arrive late.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>But Jerome believes that customers should always go first, and would always do his best to fulfill deliveries. His job allowed him to become resourceful: he now knows where and who is best to ask for directions and for help, he ensures that his motorcycle is in top condition before setting out, and arrives at the hub earlier than expected to collect parcels fr the day\u2019s deliveries.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou have no control over time, as well as the delays that you might encounter on the road,\u201d Jerome said. \u201cIf a parcel is not delivered on time, the customer will worry, especially when it\u2019s really important to them. So while I always inform them when delivery might arrive late, I keep reassuring them that their parcels will get to them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when talking to customers, Jerome makes sure to be approachable and let customers know that they can be comfortable around him. He also adds that teamwork between riders is very essential to the work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a rider nearby won\u2019t be able to fulfill deliveries on time or when they would ask for directions, he would always help out. Whenever he encounters a problem, he knows that his fellow Ninja Riders are also ready to lend a hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Many things to be grateful for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to becoming a Ninja Rider, Jerome cooked and deliver pizzas. He started working at Ninja Van right before the Philippines went into lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic. For this, he is indeed grateful that he\u2019s not one of the many people who lost their jobs during this crucial period.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jerome adds he realized that being a delivery rider can be very tiring but can be very rewarding, thanks to the colleagues and the customers he meets along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being able to go to many places and meet different kinds of people are an added bonus that Jerome likes about the job. Some customers would also give him tips, which would always lift his spirits.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/Ninja-rider-hustle.jpg\" alt=\"Ninja Rider Hustle\" class=\"wp-image-5285\" style=\"width:525px;height:394px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Jerome&#8217;s motorbike (and trusty companion) has been to many places and met different people. The farthest delivery he made was in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte,<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cNinja Van helped me a lot, especially during this pandemic. If I hadn\u2019t got this job, I don\u2019t know what or where I would be right now. I\u2019ve never thought of leaving because I really started to love what I do,\u201d Jerome said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delivery riders have been and continue to be our <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/unsung-heroes-pandemic\/\" class=\"ek-link\">economic unsung heroes<\/a>. Their hustle stories are not different from the shippers and customers they serve.
