{"id":3940,"date":"2023-06-09T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-09T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/?p=2900"},"modified":"2024-04-26T09:30:48","modified_gmt":"2024-04-26T01:30:48","slug":"live-selling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/live-selling\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Win at Live Selling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you\u2019re an online seller and you\u2019re not live selling yet, the big question is, &#8220;why not?&#8221; Eager buyers are waiting, and if you\u2019re a fashion and beauty brand, there\u2019s even more reason to start right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether it\u2019s through <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/lazada-philippines-beginners-guide\/\" class=\"ek-link\">Lazada<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/how-to-be-a-shopee-seller\/\" class=\"ek-link\">Shopee<\/a>, Facebook, or Instagram, it seems more and more consumers and sellers are getting into live shopping.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study, conducted by Taiwanese AI startup <strong>iKala <\/strong>with about 12,000 consumers and over 1,000 retailers in the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand, also found that <strong>the Philippines had the most number of sellers (60%) tapping live selling.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Filipino customers were also the most frequent live shoppers, spending just 3 to 3.5 days between purchases.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s the interactivity that draws customers \u2014 the banter, an entertaining host, the speed at which a \u201c<em>hm sis<\/em>?\u201d is answered. Or perhaps it\u2019s the ability to hold the products vicariously through the seller\u2019s hands, or the promise of discounts and freebies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe it\u2019s the thrill of saying \u201cmine!\u201d before a hundred (or even several thousand) other viewers can do so, and getting an immediate and utterly gratifying \u201cyours\u201d from the seller.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever it is, ecommerce-savvy Pinoys are loving it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Ninja Van Study: <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/live-selling-study-2023\/\" class=\"ek-link\">47% of Filipino Live Sellers Conduct Daily Sessions<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are they buying? Mainly products related to fashion, beauty, home, health, and hygiene.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>iPrice <\/strong>reports that fashion tops the list in the Philippines, enjoying a solid rise in popularity during the pandemic. It was also the top category overall across Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demand for beauty, home, health, and hygiene products also spiked, posting triple-digit growth in the last half of 2020, according to <strong>Zalora<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/health-and-beauty-products.jpg\" alt=\"health and beauty products online\" style=\"width:593px;height:396px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Image source: Getty Images<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>It seems being stuck at home unleashed people\u2019s inner Marie Kondo \/ home makeover expert. The immense popularity of Facebook groups like <strong>Home Buddies<\/strong> is proof of this (as of writing, the community has 2.4 million members). Perhaps people also had more time to experiment with makeup and skincare (admit it, you\u2019ve thought about buying a ring light and starting a beauty vlog, haven\u2019t you?). Quite unsurprisingly, health and hygiene were also top-of-mind because of the pandemic.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who\u2019s shopping? Predominantly women. Research by <strong>Orami <\/strong>shows that <a href=\"https:\/\/e27.co\/millenial-female-consumers-set-to-dominate-e-commerce-heres-why-20160620\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"ek-link\">female shoppers outnumber male shoppers<\/a> four to one. This means that out of every five shoppers, only one is male. Women also contribute the lion\u2019s share of household buys (80%) and spend 40% more time browsing online stores than men do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clearly, household purchasing decisions rest overwhelmingly in the hands of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"live-selling-platforms\"><strong>Live selling platforms<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So, how do you start live selling? Before anything else, pick a venue.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>#<em>NinjaTip:<\/em><\/strong><em> Watch other sellers\u2019 livestreams first to see how the different platforms work and to get a better idea of what goes on in a live sale.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ecommerce platforms usually have live streaming features, which lets sellers showcase their products, engage with customers directly, and potentially gain more followers in the process.&nbsp;That&#8217;s why any online sellers would do Lazada or Shopee live selling events when they want to boost their sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, some sellers have been successfully using social media for years. If you don&#8217;t have a TikTok shop yet, you could be missing out on potential customers and thousands in sales every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So you have several platforms for online live selling: marketplaces like Shopee, Facebook and TikTok. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But while the venue may vary, the experience is more or less the same: live selling is a delicate balance between performance, conversation and business transaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So ready for your close-up? If it\u2019s bags and wallets, sort them by brand or the type of material they\u2019re made of.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"try-themed-sessions\"><strong>Try themed sessions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To make it more interesting, consider having a theme for each livestream.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, in the previously mentioned study, Zalora found that demand in fashion during the pandemic shifted to sports and activewear, loungewear and children\u2019s wear.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make the most of this insight by doing a session for stylish and functional athleisure, a separate one for loungewear and other <em>#PambahayChic<\/em> items, and another for the little ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zalora also found that customers value sustainability, with more than 60% saying they are willing to pay a premium for sustainable items.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider doing a live selling session for products that are sustainably made. This may be particularly useful for sellers of beauty and hygiene products manufactured through earth-friendly means and materials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"promote-it\"><strong>Promote it<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All this prep will be in vain if nobody knows you plan to go live. If you\u2019re hosting your own livestream (as opposed to hiring someone, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ninjavan.co\/en-ph\/influencer-sell-products\/\" class=\"ek-link\">such as an influencer<\/a>, to host it for you), try to really engage with customers. This is a great opportunity to have actual conversations with them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you followed our advice and drafted talking points, make sure this acts as a mere guide rather than a script that\u2019s set in stone. Reading full sentences out loud from your <em>kodigo <\/em>may come off as mechanical and unengaging, so avoid doing so and just try to keep it casual and conversational.
